The Wisconsin Special Education Mediation System helps parents and schools work together to resolve disputes about special education.
We do not provide legal advice or advocacy for either parents or districts, and we do not mediate 504 plan disputes.

How and when do I schedule a mediation session?

The mediation session is held within 21 business days after the participants agree upon the mediator unless both parties agree to a longer timeframe.

The mediator works with the participants to find a convenient location, date, and time for everyone to meet. Mediations may be held in libraries, community centers, the school, school district offices, attorneys’ offices, or other locations agreeable to the participants.
