· Team Approach
The Wisconsin Special Education Mediation System (WSEMS) project partners conduct educational presentations statewide throughout the year to groups of educators, parents, professionals and others. The partners - a parent, a special education director and a mediator- "model" parent-school partnership during their presentations in an effort to move Wisconsin's special education culture from one that is adversarial to one that is problem-solving. The Wisconsin system's team approach is a distinctive feature nationally. In their presentations, the partners emphasize the importance of resolving conflict at the earliest possible stages. Presentations include real-life examples gleaned from the partners' five-year collaboration.
· Requests for Presentations
Presentations are free to Wisconsin school districts and parent organizations. If you wish to arrange for a presentation in your area, please complete and submit the WSEMS "Request for Presentation" form or contact WSEMS for additional information. WSEMS encourages audience diversity for all presentations, aiming at a blend of parents, educators, and others.
